The Church Film Festival in Recklinghausen, which takes place every year in March in the Cineworld, has been a meeting place for filmmakers and film enthusiasts since 2002. The members of the ecumenical "Church and Cinema" working group know how to put together an impressive program every year. In addition to guests such as Wim Wenders and Volker Schlöndorff, international and young directors also make their way to Recklinghausen to talk to the audience. Three prizes are awarded during the five-day festival: the ecumenical film prize, the youth jury prize and the "Green Branch" children's film prize. Since the beginning, the patrons have been the Diocese of Münster and the Evangelical Church of Westphalia, as well as the city of Recklinghausen.

The Palmkirmes Recklinghausen is a special event every year. As the largest spring fair in North Rhine-Westphalia, it traditionally marks the start of the fair season and provides lots of fun and adrenaline. The Ruhr Festival is one of the oldest, largest and most renowned theater festivals in Europe. A culture festival for the entire Ruhr metropolis. 200.000 visitors, almost 50 venues, up to 24 cities, one night: Since 2001, ExtraSchicht, the night of industrial culture, has been putting the Ruhr metropolis in the spotlight. Around 2000 artists work on former industrial facilities, museums and landmarks, bringing the principle of industrial culture to life. The program now includes around 500 events, from classical music to theater, comedy and special tours to fireworks. The ExtraSchicht offers an excellent presentation platform, especially for the independent scene and young artists. A unique format.
