Studio house Recklinghausen

The Atelierhaus Recklinghausen in the former royal school has become a cultural institution in the district of König Ludwig in recent years. Fine artists have their studios there. Numerous exhibitions and other events make the house an open place for encounters and exchanges across the various art genres. Interested citizens are welcome to visit the exhibitions in the exhibition room. The “Work Phases” series is dedicated to recognized artists who have a comprehensive, diverse body of work with their own signature. In the "Work in Progress" series, artists work in the exhibition space of the house so that visitors can follow their creative process. The tower room presents itself regularly with installations and performances. And in summer, the Atelierhaus opens its doors with a district festival and open studios. The studio building in the König Ludwig district is also the rehearsal and performance venue of the independent theater Gegendruck. Performances as well as musical and literary performances are regularly shown in the theater hall. Since 2017, this has also been the venue for the Fringe Festival as part of the Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen.
