Becklem Busch

The Becklemer Busch nature reserve is home to the headwaters of the Breitenbrucher Bach and other smaller springs. Richly structured and extensively used grassland stretches over 58,12 hectares. The area is also traversed by semi-natural deciduous, swamp and alluvial forests. In the west, a former and now wooded heap is part of the protected area, in which the Breitenbrucher Bach runs from north to south. The unique composition and dynamics of nature offer many animal and plant species a richly structured habitat with a high level of biodiversity. The protected area also contains the only archaeological monument in Recklinghausen, the remains of a medieval rampart.
