Electricity journey through time – The German Electricity Museum

The story is told in the “Electricity journey through time” in the Recklinghausen substation. It leads past old machines, a 100-year-old tram and historic electric cars to the display depot, which provides insights into the collection. But: Electricity is not a purely historical topic. Because our everyday lives will be unthinkable without electricity tomorrow, the museum takes a look into the future. Are tomorrow's power grids visible? How do you generate electricity from wind and sun and is there enough for everyone? Will we still drive a car tomorrow and if so, will we drive ourselves or will robots do it for us? With the help of historical objects and those with future potential, we provide answers here, but also raise new questions. And the best thing about it is that you can simply touch and try out a lot of things. Come along and take a journey through time! On 1800 square meters of exhibition space in four buildings, not only giant plasma balls, old rotary dial telephones and early video games are waiting to be discovered. Other events complement the program. Time travel Strom takes part in the extra shift every year and offers holiday programs for children. There are also events as part of special exhibitions.
