Experience and explore Recklinghausen

"Experience and Explore" combines movement, encounters, and local identity in a way that perfectly suits Recklinghausen. In a small group of no more than 15 people, participants explore the city and its surroundings on foot. The starting point is always the Tourist Information Center in Recklinghausen's old town. The aim is to discover and explore places within the city limits or on its outskirts – with encounters, stories, and insights into local life. Participants experience Recklinghausen as a city at the intersection of culture, history, science, business, and nature – vibrant, approachable, and surprisingly diverse. Hiking trails become paths of knowledge and connection.

Our Process

  • The starting point is at the Tourist Information Center in Recklinghausen.
  • The destinations are located within the city limits and on the city's outskirts and are within walking distance.
  • Our city walks combine exercise, information, and encounters.
  • Numerous explanations are given along the route.
  • The participants meet people from Recklinghausen and hear their stories.
  • During the hike there will be enough time for a small snack or a picnic (to be brought by the participant).
  • At the end of the hike, the group will take the public bus back to the old town (tickets are included). not Included in the price (each participant is responsible for providing their own valid ticket).

The offer includes two different tours: "Old Town – Loemühle Airfield" and “Old Town – Suderwicher Alm”.
Both hikes combine science, agriculture and leisure, and show how close city and nature are to each other in Recklinghausen.
