Recklinghausen Art Gallery

In 1950 the Städtische Kunsthalle was set up in the former bunker at the main train station. The reason for this was the idea of expanding the Ruhr Festival, which was founded in 1947, to include exhibitions of fine arts. The focus of the exhibition program of the Kunsthalle is on art created after 1945, but also on the winners of the 'Young West' art prize. There are regularly changing exhibitions. Artists who work in a space-related manner, such as Per Kirkeby, Ayse Erkmen and Guillaume Bijl, have exhibited here.
