Animal park in the city garden of Recklinghausen
In the middle of the Stadtgarten at the Ruhrfestspielhaus in Recklinghausen, families with children will find a nice excursion destination. In the animal park with its 250 animals there are all sorts of things to see in 20 enclosures, including rhesus monkeys, steppe foxes, Quessant sheep, donkeys, pigs and guinea pigs. Chickens and peacocks roam freely throughout the park. In the walk-in bird hall you can watch birds such as cockatoos, parrots or diamond doves in flight. A popular place to let off steam is the beautiful children's playground with climbing frames and swings in the middle of the zoo. The Café am Tiergarten invites you to take a short break with coffee and cake.

ON FOOT AND BY BICYCLE The zoo is in a quiet location in the middle of the green city garden. As soon as you are in the Stadtgarten, you can no longer miss the Tierpark. The signs for orientation within the Stadtgarten lead our guests directly to the entrance of the zoo. BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT Bus lines 203 and 223 stop at the “Festspielhaus” stop. From there you go over the pedestrian bridge in the direction of Stadtgarten. The direct route to the zoo is signposted there. Bus lines 202, 214, 270 and SB25 stop at Arenbergstrasse. From there you can go directly to the Stadtgarten, where the direct route to the zoo is signposted. ARRIVAL BY CAR There are sufficient parking facilities at the Ruhrfestspielhaus for guests driving by car. All parking spaces are free there. It is best to enter the following address into the GPS: Ruhrfestspielhaus Recklinghausen Otto-Burrmeister-Allee 1 45657 Recklinghausen You can walk from the car park over the pedestrian bridge to the Ruhrfestspielhaus. Walk past the Festspielhaus and turn right behind the building. Take the first park path diagonally to the left and then keep to the right. The entrance to the zoo can then already be seen.

From April to September, the zoo is open daily from 9.00 a.m. to 18.00 p.m. The bird hall can be visited in the warm season from 9.00 a.m. to 17.30 p.m. From October to March, the zoo is open daily from 9.00 a.m. to 16.30 p.m. The bird hall can be visited during this time from 9.00 a.m. to 16.00 p.m. The zoo is closed on May 1st.
