Training mine Recklinghausen

In this unique underground world of experience, you can experience first-hand how hard coal was mined in Germany. Equipped with a pit helmet and lamp, you meet the buddies on site and embark on one of the exciting tours through the shafts and cross passages. Nowhere else in the Ruhr area will you see so many functioning coal crushers, belt conveyors, diesel trolleys and other machines in operation. The Recklinghausen training mine, with its almost 1.200 meter long route network, is located under the former tailings dump of the Recklinghausen colliery. From 1975 courses for the RAG workforce, tests and demonstrations of machines took place here. Today, after the end of coal mining, those interested can take part in two to three-hour guided tours. For safety reasons, children can only visit the training mine from the age of 10. Another highlight: since 2020 there has been the Escape Room classified matter Gruben(un)glück with exciting missions underground. Good luck for!
