Welcome to the Westphalian Hanseatic Day in Recklinghausen!
From July 04th to 06th, 2025, the Hanseatic city of Recklinghausen will celebrate a big city festival!
A varied program awaits you at numerous locations in and around the historic old town, including the Hanseatic Market of the Westphalian Hanseatic cities, a fascinating medieval market, exciting city tours, spectacular highline events, a world record attempt, and thrilling concerts.
And best of all: the entire event is free!
To help you prepare for the festival weekend, we would like to give you some additional information below.

Arriving by train
Recklinghausen main station is centrally located in the city and within a 10-minute walk you are in the heart of the Hanseatic city.
Arrival by public transport
With more than 20 bus lines and many Vestische night express lines, you can easily travel to Recklinghausen city center, even from surrounding towns.

Arriving by bike
Recklinghausen is ideal for exploring by bike. The former railway lines and their junction system allow for a relaxing ride.
You can park your bike in the bike station (guarded, chargeable) at the main train station or in the parking area behind the town hall (unguarded, free of charge).
IMPORTANT NOTE: During the event weekend, the A43 will be closed for ten days between the Recklinghausen junction and the Bochum junction (Friday, June 27, from 21 p.m. until Monday, July 7, at 5 a.m.)!
FROM THE NORTH: Take the A43 towards Wuppertal/Bochum until the Recklinghausen/Herten exit, towards the city centre
FROM THE SOUTH (ATTENTION, CLOSURE OF THE A43): Coming from the A43 towards Münster, at the BO/Witten junction, take the A448 towards DO, then at the DO/Witten junction, take the A45 towards DO until you reach the A2 towards OB. At the Recklinghausen junction, return to the A43 towards Münster and take the Recklinghausen/Herten exit towards the city center.
FROM THE EAST: Take the A2 towards Oberhausen until the Recklinghausen Ost exit, towards the city centre
FROM THE WEST: Take the A2 towards Hanover to the Recklinghausen interchange, then take the A43 to the Recklinghausen/Herten exit, towards the city centre
Paid parking is available around Recklinghausen’s old town.

Please note that some sections of the city centre will be closed due to the event blocked .
Another, free parking can be found on the Saatbruch site (address for navigation systems: Kurt-Oster-Str. 2, 45659 Recklinghausen).
From here you bring free shuttle buses directly into the city center.
If you are arriving by coach, you have the option of reserving a centrally located coach parking space.
Please note that the Number of 12 places is limited and the bus parking is only open at the following times:
Saturday 9.00 a.m. - 19.00 a.m.
Sunday 10.00 p.m. - 19.00 p.m.

Additional free bus parking spaces – without reservation and time restrictions – are available outside the city center on the Saatbruch site (address for navigation systems: Kurt-Oster-Str. 2, 45659 Recklinghausen).

On Sunday (06.07.25) the Tourist Information is open from 13.00 p.m. to 18.00 p.m.
On the event weekend, our colleagues will also be available in the Hansehütte of the city of Recklinghausen in the Dr. Helene Kuhlmann Park (right next to the town hall).
