Nature and water adventure park "Emscherland"

On the border between Recklinghausen and Castrop-Rauxel, a blue-green oasis has emerged around the renaturalized Emscher.
The extensive area of the Emscherland invites you to walk, discover and enjoy.

Many cosy places offer the opportunity to linger and relax, while the floral splendour attracts busy bees and there is busy buzzing and chirping all around.

The park's diverse offerings include extensive perennial beds, impressive viewpoints into the naturally redesigned floodplain landscape, a playground, a blue classroom, a beekeeper's house, an orchard and themed gardens.

Good to know:

  • The paths are flat and suitable for wheelchairs, bicycles, scooters, etc.
  • Toilet facilities on site
  • Bicycle parking at the entrance
  • No catering
(The nearest restaurant is 800m away in the direction of Castrop Rauxel on the Rhine-Herne Canal or even further north on the Emscher, about 2km north of the park. There are also places to stop for refreshments in the Suderwich district, about 2,4km away.)

On foot or by bike:

The Emscherland is best reached on foot or by bike along the Emscher on the Emscher-Weg or the Emscher-Promenade with its newly created rest, play and educational stations.
