Willy Brandt House
From 1905 to 1980, the house on Herzogswall was the administrative headquarters of the Recklinghausen district. The building, which reopened in 2023 after a major renovation, was put into operation in 1905 and reflects the self-confidence of the former Prussian district of Recklinghausen around 1900, which was one of the economically and demographically strongest administrative units in the German Empire at the time. It has been the home of the adult education center since 1980. The former district administrator's villa (music school) and the associated coach house are still located in the park.
