Experience Recklinghausen by bike
Recklinghausen is not only part of the 1.200km cycle path network cycling area.ruhr, but is also located between the attractive Römer-Lippe route in the north and the Emscher-Weg in the south of the city.
You can reach our popular old town via well-developed cycle routes and paths and can go to one of the centrally located hotels – partly bed & bike certified – check in.
Explore our “Gute Stube des Ruhrgebiets” on foot while window shopping or on a historical circular route. At the end of the day you have the choice between local cuisine, for example in our brewery, or international cuisine.
The following day you will discover the unexpectedly green sides of the city and the Ruhr area by bike:
- on a 32 km long circular tour around Recklinghausen –
The varied route leads through the forest, past industrial heritage, along the renatured Emscher with a viewing tower from “Tadashi Kawamata” to the Hoheward dump with a view over the entire Ruhr area or - on a charming castle tour around Recklinghausen or
- on the Emscher art trail, for example to the ZOOM adventure world in Gelsenkirchen or
- via the Erzbahntrasse to the Jahrhunderthalle in Bochum
On the way back, treat yourself to a little beach experience and stop off at Europe's smallest city harbor with a restaurant of the same name.
Right next door is the unique Time Travel Electricity Museum with many treasures from the past electrified decades and ideas for the times to come. Touching and trying out is expressly desired.
from: 130 euros for 2 people
- 1 night in a double room in a 3-star hotel with breakfast
- 2 entries to one of the castles or museum Zeitreise Strom
By the way, you don't have to travel with your own bike. You can also have (electric) bikes in the Bike station at the main train station lend.
