Citizens carry their city
"Citizens carry their city" is what the sculptor Heinrich Brockmeier called the group of sculptures that adorn the fountain on the town hall forecourt. It should embody the public spirit of the citizens of Recklinghausen. The three figures together carry symbolic buildings of this city: the Propsteikirche St. Peter, a winding tower and the town hall. The fountain along with the sculpture and the newly designed forecourt were created on the occasion of the 750th anniversary of Recklinghausen in 1986.
