City bells Recklinghausen

The city bells attached to the old town hall in 2008 are reminiscent of the city's first three town halls, which were built here from 1256. The city seal shown (1253) with the Petrus key was the model for today's city coat of arms (1908). The bells play melodies from five centuries every day at 10.15 am, 12.15 pm, 16.15 pm and 18.15 pm. The south side of the market is dominated by the department store architecture of Althoff/Karstadt (1911 and 1930), today's Marktquartier and Hettlage (1907), today SINN.
